Hi all new to site, collecting since a kid.
Question: I have one of those single dollar sets from the 1997 release. Selling off some of my collection and this is going on the auction block. Can't find any for sale to help with the value of it. Anybody have any ideas as where to start.
Thanks for any advise,
Randy

Working on pics
Here we go
And just to refresh your memories this was the second release of silver dollars stored in the vaults of the San Francisco Mint. Released in 1997. These dollars were considered " culls " and not released in the first batch. Only 321 coins were in the second batch. Most of these were pretty ugly. Heavy toning, baggy, etc. The one I got wasn't too bad for being labeled as a cull. Also a common date 1921 plain.
None for sale on ebay and info on these is sparse. Getting ready to sell it and just trying to do proper research.

They were also sold in a 2 coin version from that same 1997 release.
Still trying to figure out their value.

I'd say the value is within the value of the coins. I don't think the packaging adds value but could be wrong.

I think you're pretty much on the mark. I do think the packaging, story behind it and the COA does ad a little value, but not a ton. So I decided to list it on ebay and test the water.
Here it is if you want to take a look:

I've not heard of these either. I would, however, think the original packaging warrants a slight premium over the going market price for the grade. Thanks for sharing and learning me something!

I don't think the packaging ads any value. It is't packaging from the coins original minting. I'll keep OMP for modern coins and commemorative, up until I get them graded. It just takes up too much room in the safe.
