Hi, after recent retirement I started going through a bunch of raw coins I have. Two questions:

1- does this look real?

2- if it's worth my time researching, any suggested sites?

I also have a second 1809 but slightly lower grade. Novice attempt here - but does this one look XF45 ? (Used PGCS photograde)

My opinion : the photo resolution isn't good enough to show surface detail .... yes it does look real .... it appears to be a grade between 45 and 53....not a scarce year so I'm not sure what more research you would want to do. If the surfaces are nice then it is a very nice example of the 1809.
Others will surely have maybe better opinions.

Genuine, sharper and brighter would help in grading.

Just curious, with size limit 300K how do you get sharper? These started over 2.5M, but resizing took its toll.

start with 1.25"sq at 400dpi, and refrain from using a white background; cardboard works just fine... coins looks OK

Only thing I can say for sure is that it's a C-6 variety.
Whether it's legit I cannot tell from those images.

Yes clearly C-6 a common variety, looks to be most likely Breen die stage II or III. Breen also says this variety is known to come with various die rotations.
