Hi All,
I was looking more closely at half a dozen
Morgan dollars my late grandfather gave me and I noticed one has some unusual layering (for lack of a better term) issues.
The issue is only on the obverse--addition of a thin layer encompassing the eye, cheek and most of the nose and upper lip. There's also a triangular-shaped "fleck" between the two stars off the point of the nose. Might be hard to tell from the images, but the "layer" is raised or elevated with mostly sharp edges.
Was hoping someone might explain what this error is and the impact on the value of the coin.
Thanks in advance for the feedback and pointers!
Dave
