I found this penny recently, and on the reverse side, it looks like the Lincoln memorial was very lightly stamped sideways over the original one. Is that what happened? If so, does anyone know how much that might be worth?

Thanks!

It looks as if Two Cents were stacked reverse to reverse and were introduced to some environmental damage. For example: cup holder coins, a new roll that was environmentally damaged, wishing well etc. Causing the reverse image to corrode from one coin to the other.

Just my Two Cents. Let's see what the pros say.

I don't see anything in that dark mass that looks like re-stamped details from the Memorial.

I hope that image is a little better.

Thanks, that makes total sense that it would be from another reverse coin side sitting on top of it! I didn't even think of that.

Environmental staining/tarnishing/damage caused by perhaps water contact with another coin is my best guess as well. I cannot think of a way to improve the coin, it appears to be ruined and is a lost cause. No premium, not even a novelty in my opinion. Spend it.
