I usually set aside these named die chips on State Quarters because they sell above face on ebay (I wouldn't pay for one of them, but whatever floats people's boats), but I always check the center of the design on State Quarters for doubling as well. I pulled this one aside because it had an "extra leaf" die chip on the reverse, then looked under the loupe at the earlobe and saw that it was also a minor DDO! Thought it was a kind of cool novelty that it had the fake "doubling" on the reverse from the die chip as well as the real deal on the obverse.

Very nice find, is it on wexler's? If not, you should get it attributed.

Thanks @TCD! I don't believe so. The only comparable one on Wexler's site is at a different angle. Honestly, I find quite a few of these (a decent number unlisted) and it's just not worth the $5 to me to get such minor DDOs listed with my name attached.

Congrats and that die chip on the reverse will make a nice reverse marker.

For me, doubled ear State Quarters are a tough find. It makes sense as well because of massive quarter mintages and not many doubled ear listings.

@Shaney They do seem to be on the rarer side compared to similar minor doubled dies like bar cents and some of the more common center die quarter DDRs (I find that about 1 in 5 Wyomings and Homesteads have minor doubling on the saddle horn or windows respectively). Still, a lot are unlisted, so I just check the earlobe of every State Quarter just to be on the safe side. I've found about 25 of them total, most being from a big collection dump of BU State Quarters where I got about 15 Oklahoma double earlobes from the same die.

Very cool! Doubled ears on these quarters are more difficult to find. Plus, you've got an unlisted doubled die here too!

I have a bunch of the "letters missing" die chip Arizonas. I'll have to go back and look for DDs around the ear. NICE!
