And Pete, yes, you can see the die marker on the reverse. There is a fairly strong die scratch, almost a die gouge, heading roughly south from the bottom of the first S in STATES.
Yorkish, I am not ignoring your question about lighting and photos. Just have been asked that a lot and every time I tell myself I need to post something somewhere about how I shoot my images so I can link to it instead of write it all out over and over.
Short story is that for the full coin shots I use a real camera, a Canon S95 which is now cheap on
ebay as but is a little powerhouse for taking quality images. No fancy lighting, but a flat post-it note as a background with an open bulb roughly six inches behind and 12 above the coin. Creates a nice angle for the light, and you can just spin the coin around on the post-it to adjust where you want the light coming from without adjusting the light. Key is the bulb, though. I am using SATCO 1490 Lumens 72W bulb.
