Edit: Was originally a post for the coin below, but MOS0239 suggested we give a little love to these under-appreciated DDRs. Show us what you got! Found this in a really good $300 worth of rolls a few days ago along with several other nice DDR/DDOs, a good Cud, and some other assorted stuff.  Edited by SamCoin

You might be able to answer a few questions about these things. Most of these Wyoming DDRs (I think) are P's. I have a D that I can't find listed anywhere, unless I'm over looking it somewhere. Sounds good, look forward to seeing them! Yes, in my experience the vast majority of all single squeeze DDR/DDOs are on Philadelphia minted coins. The explanation I have heard is that the Denver mint has newer machinery than the Philly mint, and that as the machinery ages, it gets a little loose, which is what allows these single squeeze DDR/DDOs to happen (basically the hub begins slightly out of alignment with the die and snaps back into place as it begins to squeeze).

Thanks! I guess I just needed a reality check on what I actually have and it's significance, if any? So maybe I wasn't overlooking anything on Wexler's site. It's not there.

Nope, doesn't appear to be listed, but definitely a DDR (and a pretty good one). I was curious since I have not dived as deep into this as I should have before. My explanation was slightly off. These center-design doubled dies are actually caused when the hub initiates contact with the die slightly out of alignment and a mint employee stops the press and re-aligns the die. Because the un-hubbed die is convex, the highest point of the center of the hub will be the first thing to make contact with the die, and that is what gets doubled. The thing I described about the die snapping back into alignment is actually what happens on peripheral device doubling on single squeeze dies (i.e. when the mint employee *doesn't* see that the hub is out of alignment and the die is pressed until the pressure snaps it back into proper alignment with the hub distorting not only the center, but the entire design).
