1980 Lincoln Memorial Cent Very Odd Earlobe

Scuba1 Valued Member United States 356 Posts	Posted 01/28/2021 12:30 am Hello to all. I found this one awhile back and almost forgot I had it. I thought I'd post it up here for some feedback. I am familiar with PMD and the likes but this one really peaked my curiosity. I just can't see the apparent large earlobe being PMD or a die chip due to its size and shape. It looks to me to have too much definition and I can't see any damage around the pronounced earlobe that would have "bunched up" this amount of extra material in the exact shape and size of the earlobe. He's definitely seen some miles with dings and things but is overall a fairly well struck coin. Thank you for any feedback. -Scuba1 Report this Post to the Staff

However, I just do not see how a hit could have been so perfectly placed in which to cause such an exact matching earlobe that is much larger in proportion to the surrounding devices with no discernible evidence of damage around the earlobe. The ding I was referring to is just above the earlobe along the rim of the ear. I think you're just confusing the normal design of the earlobe for doubling (confusing the separate fleshy and cartilagenous parts of the earlobe design for doubling, which it is not). I guess I was just fooled by what appears to be a knot of sorts on the lower fleshy part of the ear. It just really stood out to me but then again my eyes ain't what they used to be.
