Looking at this coin, I noticed some doubling on the obverse rim lettering.

Machine or die doubling?

This is typical Longacre "shelf doubling" - not unusual.

That is a gorgeous example of Machine Doubling, as I too actually have an 1875 Indian cent myself with this exact type of Machine Doubling. Goes to show how long these dies were in use before getting replaced.

The thing that made me question this was the U in UNITED. It looked to be possibly re-engraved.
