I bought 2 presidential medals from a company on ebay but they arrived in a not so perfect condition:
One coin had unsightly milk spots and the other deep scratches.

So I contact them and tell them. They agree to exchange them for me and for me to send them back (They paid for return shipping).

Now, once they got the coins back, the immediately refunded me all the costs of the coins.

I thought the deal was done. I go find another person to replace the coins - no problems there (I already have them in my possession).

Now, here's the kicker - The first company I bought the coins from, just sent me an email stating that my replacements are in the mail and on the way. After checking my bank account I see that they did NOT re-charge for the coins....

Both of the coins are in their protective plastic cases and I don't know when or how the scratch got on the one coin. If I had bought it directly from the mint, I may have kept it as an error or damage while in the mint. But going through a third party - who knows..

What do you peeps think?

Last year I returned a presidential medal to the Mint because straight from the Mint it arrived with a slash across the face onto the field, it was just ugly. Replacement was okay but mark on reverse, whatever.

If I'm following your post correctly, you didn't get charged for the coin re-send, but the company/person sent you a replacement. Since you found a replacement from another source and the original sender refunded you, you have a few options::

1. Be a schmuck and keep everything.
2. Call the original sender and describe to them the original issue or send back the replacement they sent you with a pleasant note thanking them for their attention to customer service,

The choice is clear &

Huh, somebody actually took the time to read and understand my post. Bravo!

I'm waiting for the new medals to arrive so I can lok at them. If in decent condition I'll probably keep them (AND let the seller that I got them and pay for them).
I can always re-sell them later on when (if) demand picks up on them.
