This 1939P LWC appears to me to have extra thickness of the outer devices towords the center. Particularly the motto, dots, wheat ears, and stems. As well as some extra thickness on the upper O of ONE.
The closest example that I have observed is 1939P-1DR-005. I am guessing perhaps an EDS.
Looking for opinions. Maybe grasping at straws.
Apologies for low quality images.

Heavy circulation that has flattened the devices and looking wider.

I would say you do have a minor [cl. vi] DDR, but determining which one may be improbable. I believe there are likely many minor ddrs that haven't been attributed/discovered [yet]. without a mint mark or markers, the chance of knowing which DDR is greatly diminished.

Unfortunately a spot of verdigris, too -- otherwise a decent cent.

Good luck with it.

Coppercoins has great pictures of die markers, you can check your suspicions against some of the listings here: https://www.coppercoins.com/diesearch.php - just search the year and mintmark and check DDR box in your case. Hope this helps!

Looking for varieties is hard - I second guess myself a lot! Websites like Coppercoins, Variety Vista, and Wexler's Die Varieties are super helpful!

By the way - I see what you are saying about the extra thickness, especially on the edge of the wheat ears and in EPU (mostly in the dots). I hope you are able to match up die markers to identify it as a DDR. Good luck!

Also - nice pictures! Kudos on getting close-ups of the devices, that can be difficult!

I compared to examples on Variety Vista,Wexler, and CopperCoins before posting. Each has similar examples to this coin with the nearest being CopperCoins 1939P-1DR-005 as I posted earlier. The only markers to compareare are MDS with no obvious matches. All 3 references provide similar examples but I was unable to identify any markers as all are either MDS or LDS.
Even though the coin is not in the best shape, I'm pretty sure there is Some minor doubling here comparing the references I have checked that are not a result of normal wear.
I am sure I could wrong but be assured that I did do my homework before posting and did not just throw it out there blindly.
No big deal. I know if we're a DDR of this type it might bring a dollar or 2 from someone looking for this variety. Not that I intend to make a buck or 2, but rather trying to hone my skills in the search.

Thanks for the feedback "coin obsessed" & "CENT Station". Glad to know I'm on the right track.
2x2 for reference due to disease.
Even poor, it may be a new variety. You never know.
Save pile.
