I'm a sucker for a pretty dame, uh dime, and really liked the clash on this one. ebay bargain at $11.50 Cdn. in 2016.
Not only does this one have the head outline, there's also the part in the hair. If you look by the date, the nose is peeking out from the sail.
On the obverse, there are 2 clash marks from sails sticking out the back of the head. The marks turn into a die crack going to the rim. Another small die clash line (from the D in CANADA) joins the head and the D of D:G, and then there's a die crack to the rim. Both cracks caused by the clash.
Lots of variation in the rim, especially the obverse one- double, flat, swirled.
There's another clash mark up/down through the nose (just barely visible in the 1st obv. photo).

There are still die polishing lines (all the parallel lines on rev.), and some cameo finish on both sides, so this had to be a very new set of dies when the clash happened.

TerryT, very nice and interesting coin.

If we look behind the head, I will opt for an explication from error-ref.com of a outside material interference between the die and planchet.

I see a SW one side and SE the other the die move on strike, direct opposite.

Also the no 3 in the date is not the normal one. Same the 1 from 10 cents.

The lines of polishing I will state that is one of the first strike or could be an essay strike of the die.

The big clash, a rebound strike? maybe, to be determinate.

Nice coin, thanks to share.
