Closeup photos are needed (cropping your images to the edges of the coin will help), but first appearance suggests a "drier coin". Closer photos will help, please. to the CCF! edit: OK, larger photos confirm my first thought. This has all the looks of a drier coin (aka a washer coin).

I am curios to know the diameter. Also I question why the head is so use and the mausoleum is in very good shape. 3.03 is far to low and the coin is thicker then normal?
Head rim is larger then the other side and also has different color.
Could be a magician coin? The close large rim photo and complete specs will help.

Your coin does not remotely resemble a washer or Dryer Coin. The rim is way too defined to have been tumbled in a washer or dryer. The obverse is extremely worn down and could easily account for the loss of weight down to 3.03 grams which is still well within the U.S. Mint tolerances for a copper Cent. Here is a link on this forum regarding Dryer Coins which is an extremely good source of information. I think your coin has just seen a lot of circulation wear over the last 52 years. http://goccf.com/t/143863

I agree with Scuba1 is far not a dryer or wash machine coin. for the weight let go with Scuba1 also, has many years of experience even I thing 0.08 difference is to much.
the diameter will speak. Please post this parameter. the number of the diameter is very important in this case.

I enlarged your last picture of the 3 coins in the plastic holder. I took a piece of paper, placed the straight edge of the paper directly under the chin and the back of the neck hair line on the coin in question, made pen marks on the outside edges of that coin, and then compared it to the other two coins in the pouch. I found the diameter to be the same. I think the shiny rim of the coin you are questioning is causing an illusion and making it appear smaller than the other two coins in the pouch. Just my opinion.

in the photo you put with a nickel. Only a measurements tool will tell you. If you do not have a caliper or micrometer just put together with other penny in the series. By eye is hard.
