Team,

I received this today along with a Christmas Card from someone I've never met, but yet is apparently somewhat like me. A very kind/simple gesture, which I'll gladly show you a picture of but perhaps still leaves one wondering the meaning of the statement.

Take Care
Ben

Chuckle, if you look closely that 1974 (obv) is struck somewhat differently, than most in more ways than one...

Bonedigger- So that's why there is a Masonic square and compass on my 1974 penny. I wonder if mine was done by the same guy who sent you these.

I myself, being female, cannot explain in totality the meaning of the statement on the card. However, I can tell you that the Freemason brotherhood is extremely steeped in symbols. I think I am correct in saying that "the first night you were a Mason" means the night the Mason was 'raised' from apprentice to full Master Mason.

They go through a very detailed ritual including being 'killed' and 'raised' from death. This coin tells me that there is some part of the ceremony where the Master is robbed, and therefore pennyless. The initiation is based on happenings from the Bible.

I have no idea if my ramblings have helped or not. Hopefully they did, though!

Pretty Good Elle, You were close on the penniless part. Remember, one must first have money to be robbed of it, and there is no thievery involved.

Take Care
