I am from Nottinghamshire in England but after 15 years living and working abroad in Europe and Egypt am now based in beautiful Derbyshire. I am an English teacher by trade but since moving back to the Uk have struggled to find work, esp' in the Covid era, so took a job at my local shop. Little did I realise that this would begin a fascination with the coins passing through the till! I have some older coins from a collection of my uncles, a few I have picked up on my travels and now have begun with 50p pieces and £2 coins here. I find it fascinating and also very cathartic and joined to here to learn as much as I can and possibly swap some coins too. As my lovely boss lets me put coins of interest aside and then simply exchange them at the end of my shift, I am getting a larger collection of 'extra' coins so would love to be able to help others add to their collection while widening mine. Part of my interest is the beauty of different designs so am always looking for something I do not have. I have no intention of ever selling my collection so while I am keen to learn I also just love the aesthetics of coins so am always interested to add anything new.
Well said! When we work with anything it usually piques our interest and coins are no different. What do you consider your 'best' coin? What is your best score?
