Hi, I found some strange wear and/or errors on this undated Standing Liberty quarter. Liberty's head on the obverse actually has a sunken cavity. While the reverse has either weird wear marks or misstrikes? I'm new here, so I'd appreciate anyone's opinion. Thanks in advance! (PS: I ordered a digital microscope, so I hope to post better magnification pics soon.)

Guessing a deliberate attempt at a puncture at some point.

Someone hammered something into the head, which raised the metal up on the reverse. Then the coin apparently circulated quite a bit afterward, resulting in unusual wear patterns.

Closer views of obverse, one with light from the left to give an idea of the depth of the cavity. (By the way...digging this digital microscope. I'm gonna spend WAY too much time going through my collection with this!)

"Holed" on the obverse, then "plugged" on the reverse? Any idea how someone plugged it? It looks like the original silver.

Firebird, I too just purchased a digital scope and it took a while for me to work the bugs out. My images kept coming up eliptical because I changed the resolution. Once I set it back to the default at 1.3MB, the pictures remained round. I concur with the group that this is PMD.

I appreciate everyone who weighed in on this. Thank you! And yes, MisterT, digital scopes are amazing. For someone like me who'd used a loupe or magnifier for years, this is like another world.
