Hi all.. I have just received a coin from my father that he found him self in Rome back in the 70's when he was travelling. I have tried to find this coin on the internet but have had no luck at all, not even close. I'm hoping it's actually real and think it may be real gold? It's about 20mm from edge to edge and is fairly heavy for its size.

I would really like someone with some knowledge about ancient coins to let me know what I have, so I can do a little more research myself, thanks...

Not real and not ancient I am afraid. It is a cast of some form of fantasy piece.

It combines what is supposed to be a head of the emperor Probus (A.D. 276-282), Laureate, cuirasseds bust left with shield and spear, with a reverse from the Roman republic dating to 55 B.C. - P. Licinius Crassus. P·CRASSVS·- M·F Female figure standing before horse l., holding spear in l. hand; at her feet, cuirass and shield.

I suspect it was a tourist piece of some form.
