I've gone through various forums on here as well as following various links posted from other members but I can not do the life of me tell if it's fake, or real. So yes I have done a lot of research and do realize the high possibility of the one I found being fake, however, here's to hoping right? I wanted to know what y'all thought.

Backstory, this was found while metal detecting on the gulf coast in Texas. My settings were set for softer mettles like gold, aluminum and silver at the time of find. TYI!

NO, it has not been cleaned to a large extent. No chemicals not even soap. I just gently rinsed it off with distilled water enough to get the course sand off and out of the little slip there on the edge of the coin and let air dry. Also notice how the coin bends a bit in one of the pics? Fyi I added the 3rd image to show how the coin changes color in darker gold almost no gold color more silver color, depending on the lighting.

Looks to me like the slightly gold regions are sections where gold plating has worn off. And gold plating is exactly how a replica would be made. The legit pieces would be .917 fine gold, no silver-color metals hiding under the surface. Also this looks extremely similar to the example photos on the CoinReplicas website for this coin, minus the intact gold plating.

Based on that this looks like a replica to me
