Very nice coin, is it a proof coin or just the picture?

Proof from 1833?No the picture it´s of the coin as it is.This sort of coins didn´t circulate a lot because not a lot of people got there hands on them in those days.I didn´t know that there were proof in those days but I keep on learning and that´s why i´m here for.Thank you for the lesson.

jlcarvoeiro- you never know. It could be a proof. As it is, proof pennies were made in England as far back as 1716 (maybe even before).

I don't know portuguese coins and I don't know if they ever did a proof of that particular coin. I didn't check the catalogs, it was just the first thing that came out of my mind, as it looks like a proof coin in the picture. It sure is a nice coin.
