Junk box find. Initially I thought it was Copper-Nickel. Did some light searching, and saw where someone claimed to have a silver version. Studied the coin more closely, and saw where the prospector was about to step on a P.

Restarted the search with Philadelphia Mint, and found references in PCGS and NGC. There are 3 versions -- Bronze, Silver, and Platinum. I'm assuming this is silver.

Nice! Yes, at ~20 grams, your example is one of the silver medals.

I enjoy collecting these US Mint medals. Here's my three-piece set of the 1967 Alaska Centennial medals - it's set 92 of 100 and includes the platinum version; there were 100 platinum medals struck.

Greetings from Florida, I just got a silver one at the FUN show. Looking at all my new acquisitions & getting the online lowdown. I love that set, sets are what drew me there to the show.
