Hello- I am going through my old Mint Sets and found what appears to be a Wide AM 1988-P and 1988-D Lincoln Cent in the same package. The A and M are not touching and appear far enough apart to be called Wide AM and the FG on both seem to be closer that in the Close AM version. My concern is that the Gs do not appear to have a serif. I have been long confused by the G type compared to the other findings. Can someone help me understand if these are truly Wide AM varieties? Thanks

1988 " Wide AM" is a misnomer. All 1988 cents have a space between the A and the M.

The most obvious difference between a normal 1988 cent and the rare RDV-006 (Reverse Design Variety #6) is the font of the G in FG. RDV-006 has a flared bar to the G.

Thanks Tanman 2001- So to summarize, being a Wide AM is and of itself not of great significance. The nomenclature of a Wide AM 1988 (which commonly refers to the width) must also have a G with horizontal bar to be rare. It's that lack of distinction and predominant focus on width that left me confused.
So these coins are not the rarer variety, Thanks.
