This makes a lot of sense. Oddly enough I would have not thought you could still have these buildings almost intact with new structure built all around the stone work, not just on top of "ruins".
His 'Pantheon' one was recommended to me earlier today so he must have hit the magic algorithm bonus today. There's so much hidden in Italy that you could spend 10 lifetimes looking and keep finding new (old) stuff.
A couple examples I photo'ed below. Neither is exactly "hidden," but they seem to more or less fit the video's theme.
From Barcelona, Roman towers and wall that have been built upon from antiquity onward:
From Assisi, the church of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva. The facade is from the 1st century BC Temple of Minerva. I've read that this is "the most intact Roman temple front (still surviving) in Italy." Odd experience to pass through that Classical portico into the gaudy Baroque interior.
Thanks for posting this. I just had to cancel a trip to Rome in two weeks due to COVID-19. But I'm not giving up. I'll review this video before I go next time.
