And again came across this unusual 2000 D penny color. Washed with mild soap and water thinking it's just corroding.I placed it along side a different 2000 D penny and this is the pictures.Is there a reason for this?

Sometimes a zinc blank or three will get melted into the copper used for plating those zinc blanks, making the copper a brass. Always a fun find though.

This is a normal occurrence. Zinc plating is an art more than a science, there's a good bit of variation due to how the plating bath changes.
