Combination of damage and worthless Machine Doubling. Are you using a reference site like Wexler's die varieties or variety vista?

If you're starting out, a good rule of thumb is that if it's not an exact match for anything on wexler's, variety vista, or coppercoins, then it's most likely not a variety. Yes, it is possible that you could discover an unlisted doubled die or other variety, but the majority (especially the majority of significant ones) have already been found and listed for coins over a few years old. Once you find a few real ones and start to get your sea legs under you, then you can get a little more discerning and maybe start to pick out actual unlisted varieties.

I agree, damage and Machine Doubling. Keep searching!
