The reason I have posted is because I have a 1938 Half Penny, which I believe is a misprint. The H from Half and the Y from Penny is missing. So it actually spells Alf Penn. When the coin was struck, the H and the Y on the die had an accumulation of grease and debris from the minting process pressed into those areas. The metal of the planchet couldn't flow into the die, so the resulting coin has missing details. Do a search on Grease Filled Die and you should find more information and images.
