Values on early coppers can vary greatly. For example, a collector seeking the S-59 variety would likely pay more than a type coin collector.
A case on point was my showing a 1799 large cent to a major dealer. He offered 3k for it which I declined. I submitted it to a major auction with a minimum bid of 5.5k. It didn't sell. About a year or so later, a dealer offered me 7.5k for it. He had a buyer who'd give him a profit on it. Lesson ... a scarce coin's value can change significantly from one day to another.
