I am new to the community and pretty much new to collecting and appreciating coins and currency in a whole new way. I really love finding the errors on coins and am aware that paper currency has errors as well. However, what those errors are, I am completely clueless. It looks like this $5 bill has the stamp of a borderline right in the middle of the note but it's very possible it was done after leaving the place where it was printed at. I would appreciate any information that can be passed along to me about what this is.Thank you all for your input.
Looks to be the edge of a teller stamp. It's when a bank puts bills into a strap and then stamps their name onto the strap. The idea is to get the entire stamp on the strap, but sometimes they miss and stamp the top bill a little bit.
Its a teller/bank stamp. If it had a strap it might have shown the rest of the stamp. Occasionally when I put in a Where's George bill, I will stamp it with my teller stamp for fun and send it back out into the world.
