I was on a small internet auction last week. I was there for an early date Franklin half proof, but there were some LMC's listed as errors and varieties. The pictures were too fuzzy to make out split serifs, but this one cent labeled as a DDR looked promising. "I" looked corpulent (No, there was not a mirror in front of me.), and I remembered to "look for the spread on the devices." Yes coop, you say it enough, and it sticks.... Anyway, I thought what the heck. I need examples in hand to help calibrate my eyeballs. I see way too much circulation flattening in my circulated wheats, or what I ascribe to circulation flattening. I got it Friday. I believe the attribution written on the 2x2 was correct. But, before I show pics of the obverse, I will give folks on here a chance to show off by telling us the date. I bet someone here will recognize it.

Nice, 1964 DDR-001 is one of my favorites. Don't own one, but hope to find one some day. What did you pay for it?

Man! That was quick!
I figured that if I was confident in the attribution after consulting Variety Vista, I knew that people like Samcoin and CentSation would nail it on sight! I know there are several others on here who would have done the same.

A nice example! Mine is a mid Stage A in an ANACS 65RD holder, a rather nice DDR in general.

SamCoin,
After figuring in its share of the shipping (I did bag my Franklin proof.), that cent cost me $2.33.

$2.33? Wow, that is an absolute steal! It's a pretty affordable die in general, but I would have assumed at least $20-$30

Thanks! I have some more pics that I will post, and while thoughts on grade are of interest to me, what I really would like help with is the stage. I keep going back and forth. I think part of my problem is that I haven't compared enough cents from that swelled master hub era to discern die states. So, whatever I am told, I am writing it on my 2x2 for future reference. Keep in mind, I wanted this cent to help me understand lighting and what my imaging capabilities are. The verdict is, not so hot! Anyway, I used some very harsh lighting to bring out die scratches with my dinky $20 scope, then less harsh lighting with an iPhone with a lens attached. Some photos make it look like a parking lot coin. Others give that flaw hiding, liquid look Frog likes so well.

Good price on a nice variety, congrats. I'm thinking there are only two or three LMC DDRs like this: The only other I can think of at this time is the 68d. Not sure how much help this memorial DDR will provide in spotting LWC DDRs though because the 64p is class 1 and most LWC DDRs are class 2 & 6 - good luck with it.

Great pick up! I, like Grapes have a stage A MS-65 in an ANACS holder.

CentStation,
I agree. Once I had it in hand, I realized I didn't need much help in spotting something that obvious. Yet, I was pretty tickled at how fortunate I was to acquire something that cool for so little.
Thanks, Sheldius, though I don't know that I can claim it as a cherry pick. That would imply application of more skill and knowledge than I have.

@Numiscrat, Per your question about which die stage your coin is, I believe it to be either a later Stage B or an early Stage C. The photos aren't good enough to be sure either way. I believe I see the die scratches in front of Abe's nose, and behind his neck on the obverse, which if present would put at at Stage B, however the reverse looks to be somewhat later die state than the average stage B, more similar to that of a Stage C. Call it Stage B.5 if you'd like
