DNA Pillar of the Community United States 2734 Posts	Posted 01/02/2009 11:00 pm I got a belated Christmas present from my family! http://i294.photobucket.com/albums/...oandBolo.jpg Last November, they really thought I'd gone "overboard" when I got the set of American Buffalo Gold Fractional Proofs. Today, they 'officially forgave me' by coming with me to a coin shop and buying me a 2001-D American Buffalo Uncirculated Silver Dollar, to go with my gold Fractionals! At last, I have the coin I use for my avatar! My Bolo Tie was also 'upgraded' to an 1881 VF Morgan... The coin shop owner said "You sure you don't want an 1893-S for your Bolo Tie?" I said, "No, an 1889-CC will do..." then less sarcastically I said "If I had a CC in it, I'd have to have the reverse facing out, wouldn't I?" DNA Pillar of the Community United States 2734 Posts	Posted 01/03/2009 12:13 pm The coin shop had three of these in the case, so the family took me there to pick out which one I wanted, and bought it for me. See, they let me pick it out, which is always the best idea when buying such a present for a collector.... They don't have the 'eye' for coins, but at least they know not to get me altered coins and/or coins from TV. At least the 1968-2008 Clad Proof Dime Set they got me for my birthday was a 'real' collectible, even if I never would have bought it myself... The 1881 VF-30 Morgan was also my pick from the bargain box. The bolo tie 'upgrade' (up from a 1921-D XF Morgan) was their idea. Last November, I never heard the end of it for buying the Fractional Gold Buffalos, but their current prices on ebay have saved my behind!
