Took my fake toonie to the bank today and made a coin collector friend:) the bank will trade a real toonie for your new fake toonies because they are not considered fake yet. I traded and got to pick from a bunch of toonies because of the friend I made. I decided to grab a 2018 armistice coloured toonie. They had a non colored one as well I hear they are more rare. But I want some coloured coins. Does anyone have the glow in the dark toonie or the one that looks like a dragon face or something a s the center? Iv never seen either. Anyways this is what I traded my fake toonie for

That sounds like a fair trade. I like the way your bank thinks. Good score. Now go back tomorrow and get the non coloured 1. Trade him a real toonie if need be.

Quote: Anyways this is what I traded my fake toonie for If you know it is fake, then you are part of the problem.. You can't knowingly use fake coins, you know it is fake, sorry, but stop telling people, it is o.k. to spend them, Sorry, but perhaps when you get change at a retailer, check them and tell the clerk, I don't want that one, it is fake..

What TD bank what that at. I'll make sure not to use TD banks any more. Helping counterfeiters get away with what they are doing. That is very disgusting of you two. Please don't post about your endeavours any more

The bank teller was well aware it was one of the new fakes, I had got it in my change right next door, but as I said in other posted this is what banks have to do atm with the current fakes. What they were advised to do. I didn't make the fake, I got it at the convenience store next to the bank. Ps the first thing I said to one teller was I got this next door and it's a fake I think. They took it and gave me a normal toonie. The guy in the back(the one who let me pick out a toonie) after I had talked to him. He was sorting through rolls of toonies and counting how many fakes came through the rolls. I didn't see him many but while I was waiting he put aside a few of them. To call me part of the problem is just ignorant and pretty offensive. I simple went to the bank and asked "what do I do when I get a fake coin". The rest wasn't me doing anything

Since the federal mint has yet to declare these fakes to exist 100% and a way to tell that every claw foot bear toonie is a fake, and there is so many seemingly in circulation the bank gives you a toonie for your fake toonie even if you tell them it's a fake. Maybe they put them aside maybe they send them back out. The fact that I got to pick a coin was because I talked to the bank teller who was into coins, and alot about this forum. it was most of my break at work actually. But ya after talking with him he asked if I wanted to look at some toonies and take one over the random toonie the teller that I originally spoke with gave me. Also me as well I needed to vent-_-

No it's just what you said in your other posts saying that fake coins are ok until the mint gets involved. Fakes are fake and hurt all of us You said you wanted to start a collection , you are going about it the wrong way all ready. Please stop posting about fakes coins

Iv made three posts about fake coins. My first post I didn't know it was a fake. I posted about an uncirculated looking 1996 coin tha I learned on the forum was fake and confined by doing research. Second post was about a coin that sound like the fake coin does but that topic is about the toonies sound not fakes. Third post was about how I got another fake different year today. And then I wanted to know, well of I'm coming across alot of fakes what do I do. So I went to the bank to ask. I'm simply posting what I'm learning as I try and learn about coins. Right now it's been mostly about toonies. I don't have tons of money to spend on "collectables" so I find a weird coin and post it. I'm clearly just getting into coins in general and I don't need people coming at me. That's not why I joined a this forum.

What you are doing and recommending is illegal. You are a menace to this hobby IMO.

Wrekkdd - some of these collectors have been fighting counterfeit coins for more than 15 years. CCF user 'nickelsguy' is Mike Marshall. I suggest you Google his name and 'counterfeit' for some background information. They are very familiar with the Criminal Code of Canada, and have even been responsible for ebay removing all Canadian counterfeits from ebay (Google that with Mike's name too). Mike has also prevented major companies from being fooled into certifying counterfeit coins and counterfeit slabs. I'll save you the Google effort on this one: https://www.PCGS.com/news/PCGS-rewa...ng-collectorWith all that said, the collectors who have responded to you, don't blatantly attack anyone randomly. They will however, vehemently defend our hobby against numismatic and contemporary counterfeits. When they say what you are doing is illegal - they don't care what the Royal Canadian Mint or any banker says. The Criminal Code of Canada is pretty black and white. I am shutting down this thread - but will leave it here (for now) as a reminder to others that what you are recommending is 100% wrong.
