Early Nacional (ancient) coinage of Spain.

It would be interesting if the U.S. or Australia had coinage systems that old!

It looks to be a really good quality catalogue Paul, and very well illustrated. It will come in handy as a reference book for sure. A real keeper.

I had a surprise recently myself. The family gave me a copy of the Barrington Atlas for my birthday. I had no idea that it was such a big heavy tome. Hopefully there will be no more "lost" cities amongst future coin acquisitions.

Me neither!...Which is why it was such a surprise...

Strange reply?....Considering my coin budget a month is $50-60.....The last time I bought from this auction house was around one and a half years ago and the coin was $48 inclusive!.....
I would think it's more related to the fact I live in the same country so postage was $6.....

@Novicius.....Great looking atlas, what a lovely gift!
Looking forward to seeing some photos of it when you post some of those interesting little finds you always seem to come up with.

I think @coinfrog was busting my chops, not yours.

Places where I've dropped a few bucks over the last 20 years like Jean Elsen and CNG issue some very attractive glossy catalogs, but never hardback.
And as best I can tell, WCN doesn't even print one.

I was just being cynical, but the facts support this - if you're a consistent buyer at most auction houses, you'll get top-level treatment, including the best catalogs.

....Yes completely agree! Plus the cost of publishing must be compensated somehow, maybe the starting prices, which are usually quite high help to offset this cost?...It's certainly becoming more difficult to pick up a bargain!
