Hi All,

I just bought the below coin but am having trouble dating it or identifying the mint.I did the usual Google, auction, market place searches but without success. Since I do not have the Price catalogue nor does my local library I was hoping someone here may be able to advise. Based on the features it seems to be a 50/50 chance to be a lifetime issued coin, but who knows.

Thank you for your help!

Welcome.

Late lifetime or early posthumous issue, I think. Amphipolis mint, 323-320 BC. Athena Promachos in the reverse left field. Price 109, I believe.

Thanks Bob, while I could not find a 100% match on numismatics.org they had some awfully similar ones and at least its 100% the same mint. I paid 570 USD hoping it would be a lifetime issue which now seems a bit high, but would be keen to hear your opinion.

Either way it's my first antique coin and definitely a nice looking one in my opinion.

A heck of a splurge for your first ancient coin. But it's darn impressive. A real beauty. It will be hard to top.
