I thought this might be an interesting new topic. Over the decades, American Bank Note Company tried a number of schemes to profit from their vast archive of historic engravings, by creating products they could sell to collectors. The most popular and long-lived was their souvenir card series, from 1976 to 1996. But they also collaborated with other companies to cross-market collectables, including American Express, International Silver, and Time-Life Books.

With Time-Life in 1978, they created a portfolio of 10 booklets called "The Opening of the West".

Each booklet had a theme, such as "The Boomtowns," "Buffalo Hunters," and "The Indian Nation." Time-Life printed the booklets and ABNC supplied intaglio engraved prints of vignettes, stocks, tickets, and various items that fit the particular theme.

In this portfolio are four very nice engraved check reprints. The are from, respectively, "Gold Rush Days," "The Iron Horse," "Cowboys & Cattlemen," and "Riverboats & Clippers."

It just occurred to me that there is another Bank of Ruby City check that appears on a ABNC souvenir card, SO-23.

There's also a neat bank check with a Santa Claus theme on SO-121
