This one came in the mail today...pretty sure I can check another proof off the cherrypick list. Pretty typical blah mpf 1916 rims. Die pair 2.

Here is my thought process:

Color is BN
There appears to be from photos no luster on obverse
The obverse to me shows a strong strike for this issue behind the ear, the jacket fold, shirt collar though is weak, and beard under chin and jaw is strong
Relative to the strike, no visible signs of wear at the high points
Date and rim devices are sharp
For reverse, wheat stalk at tips from photos show no wear and lines are defined and separate
Unlike obverse, there appears to be some luster on reverse

Edit: where is the rim photo to validate it's a proof?
All devices are sharp and no nicks except the discoloration at 6 o clock
From photos my grade is BN MS 65
However, I am concerned about the unevenness of the color on the obverse and the flat appearance, would not be surprising if coin was cleaned or colored, hope you got a great deal nevertheless

I lean toward MS on this, say 65BN.
Rest in Peace

MS64 or MS65BN. I think the strong strike will push it over the line to 65

Don't think it's a proof, business strikes were very good in 1916.
