Hello folks, Sydney in the UK here dropping by to introduce myself.
I suspect I am in a different position to many as I'm in the sad position of disposing of my coins. I'm an old guy and my health's not that great and I am now thinking about things like the coins I have gathered and disposing of them sensibly rather than leave it so someone else who does not appreciate them.
Most of what I have has been given to me over the years and I have just enjoyed having and looking at my coins. I have never really taken an academic interest in what I have, consulted catalogues and that sort of thing. Now, that I come to sell my coins I find it difficult to decide on a fair value some things; especially when it is something more obscure. For example, I am currently considering a Roman coin I have, where to be honest: I don't even know what it is! It's sometimes so difficult to know where to start the bidding for a good experience for me and the buyer. If it's too low and there aren't the right people looking that week — I lose. If I set the price too high, I am wasting my time and other peoples' time.
I wonder if would be appropriate to post pictures of coins like my Roman coin and ask for opinions here?
Thank you very much and all the best,
Sydney.

@john1 Many thanks for that. I didn't want to just come blundering in! I'll head over to the ancient coin forum presently, but I will read a bit more before I post.
