Brandmeister Pillar of the Community United States 6562 Posts	Posted 06/23/2023 4:56 pm Went through about 400 nickels with my little plastic scope. Found lots of hornets nests in various stages of cracking. That weak spot on the side of Monticello is really interesting, because year after year, die after die, the hornets nest forms in the exact same two places, and then snakes a crack around to the companion spot. Poor Felix Schlag might be sad to know that his initials are also a major weak spot on modern nickels. My two favorites last. A nickel with a crumbling M and I. And then a full blown hornet explosion, rim to roof, and also rim to window sill. Report this Post to the Staff
