all I use for taking pics of coins is this cheap camera ive had for years, actually this is the 2nd exact one ive had the first one broke. you can easily pick up a cheap camera capable of taking descent pics at most thrift stores for about $5- $10 just make sure it has the macro feature (the button on the left that looks like a flower) and this is my set up just a lamp with a florescent bulb about 12 inches from the area to be photographed, before I take all the pics I do a test I put the coin on the "grid" and move it down one increment at a time then look at the different pics and detrmine which positiion looks most natural and use that spot for all the pics,,, excuse the mess and the dirty camera as I said I have used it for years lol
