hopefully someone can answer these two questions beyond any doubt. 1 which Variety is this? 2 in this or is it not a fingerprint on the obv? please enlage the obv for a better look. thanks for you help H
After a period of time, chemicals in our body oils can actually etch the metal. In this case the oils could have potentially been on the coin for over 140 years so any fingerprint would have had plenty of time to cause the damage.
Fingerprint. You should see what fingerprints do to bronze, after being sealed in a mint bag for 50+ years...
Up until the late 1980s, the mint workers handled the coins coming off the presses with bare hands.
