Going through some old nickels, half of them I can't figure out the date, but this 1938 D nickel as stamped on the reverse, has a "F" under the date on the obverse?
I tried looking it up, but I'm coming up with nothing, or I'm not entering the question right?
Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

The "F" is the mark of James Earle Fraser, the designer of the Buffalo nickel.
Suffering from bust half fever.

@ Miss Italy21 , If you don't already have ,get yourself the The Red Book '' A guide to United States coins ''
It will give you a lot of information and a price guide to all U.S. coins.

As T-Bop said, get the Red Book. It is a wealth of information and pricing.

I always like it when the Red Book is suggested. Makes my collection of them much better.
