I purchased a collection of notes last year and included in that collection were a number of sequential 1973 one dollar notes with what appears to be some sort of ink transfer. I was hoping someone could shed some light on this phenomenon. It doesn't appear to be offset printing but I am just not sure. I am thinking that the sheets of notes were printed and then stacked together before the ink was completely dry?

Is it a litho or intaglio printed note?
Can you post the other side please?
Can't be offset because not only is it mirrored, it's a negative image.

I believe this is an intaglio printed note. I have eight of them in sequential order, and they all have similar characteristics on the back of the note. I have four other 1973 one dollar notes in sequential order with an ACN prefix that also appear to have some sort of ink transfer. I don't think these notes were ever in circulation, however most of them would probably grade AU or lower due to improper storage/handling.

I recently sent this note in for grading and it came back Unc 60 Original with an "ink rub off" comment. Has anyone ever seen this? I'm assuming the sheets of banknotes weren't allowed to dry properly before being put in stacks, but would love to hear some opinions on how this happened.

Here are a couple of 1973 notes that seem quite similar to your's.
I was told in a thread from 2018 that the transfer was not strong enough for any kind of premium.
