Yesterday I finally noticed the banner ad in the header and realized that it was from a company that had a coin I was watching on ebay. I'm leery of ebay in general, but especially for really beautiful coins starting for .99.

Anyway this led me to believe that this vendor should be reputable and I happily bid away and won the item.

I would like to support merchants that support this site, can I safely assume that any vendor showing up in a banner ad is also a member in good standing of this forum and is reputable and fair? If so, they are the first one's I look for when I'm in a buying mood (which is near constant).

jewellge,

When I see a nice coin with a .99 start and no reserve on the Bay it peaks my interest. That's how I start all of my auctions. I see it as a sign of seller confidence that the coin is as represented in the auction. I shy away from those that start above RedBook price with a "reserve not met". That tells me the seller doesn't have a clue.
Most of my purchases are from .99/no reserve auctions and I'm happy over 90% of the time. I am more concerned with zero feedback or a rating below 98%.
Also agree with supporting those that support us ... good call!

I agree with SeatedNut...good auctions from good sellers with a low starting bid tend to pull down better money than the auctions that have a high starting bid.

As to what causes an auction to be "featured" at the top of CCH, I have no idea. That seller ID is not on the list of "Member Listings" (see link on left, under " ebay Coin Shopping").
