Just one of the counterfeits I've been adding to my collection. This one looks more obviously fake in the photos than in hand, but it's so light that I think it would have been hard to pass. At least it's some harder metal and not lead.

I always like looking at these posts of yours. Are you specializing in any particular group of counterfeits, like contemporary circulating counterfeits of classic US coins as opposed to say, numismatic forgeries?

Interesting. I think this has the possibility of fooling those who haven't handled many Barber halves. Thanks for sharing!
Suffering from bust half fever.

I honestly just have an interest in fake coins. The more someone tried to pass it, rather than a tourist replica, the better. I can just picture someone in their shop expertly gluing on a mint mark, or making die molds or whatever for the technique they are using. And it always surprises me just how many of these things are out there. Not every dealer I stop at will sell them to me, as there is a certain need for trust when selling someone a very good 1909-S VDB counterfeit for just a couple bucks that it won't immediately be sold back into the world. But over time I've been able to acquire several hundred of them and it's always interesting to see what I run into. I'll toss up a dime I also got yesterday, another cast Barber.
