In 1352, Johanna (Jeanne in French), heiress to the throne of Brabant-Limburg married Wenceslas of Bohemia, 14 years her junior , who two years later became the first duke of Luxembourg. In 1355 Johanna's father, Jean III, died, and she inherited the throne of Brabant-Limburg, ruling with Wenceslas as consort. Their arms featured (count 'em!) FOUR different rampant lions! In the coin shown below (copyright Fritz Kunker, downloaded from acsearch), from the upper left clockwise are the lion of Bohemia with its braided tail, then Brabant, Limbourg, and Luxembourg on a background of horizonta bars. There are a lot of coins with 4 lions from Duchy of Brabant, but only in this reign is it four different lions.
