Found this 1986 P Cent in change and initially thought it just had a Ring of Death. But it is thinner than my other cents (at least in two places). The weight is 2.5g,so under the 2.7g a zincoln should be. I have a copper and this coin on scale in second photo to show the scale is reading correctly (combined weight should be 5.7 g).
What do you think?

Actually the weight is spot on. they weigh 2.5g not 2.7g.
as for a tapered planchet? Not sure on that. My first thought was that the coin was not upset properly, thus not getting the rim.

Yep, copper-plated zinc cents are 2.5 grams, not 2.7 you mentioned. Keep searching!

Ok, Thanks. Much appreciated. Must be thinking too much about steel cents (2.7 g). This is why we have the forum to keep on track. One less to flip up and put away.
