It seems to be the norm for the 1977, first 7 is a blunt 7 second 7 is a pointed 7, the base images on coinsandcanada seems to have the same thing. I can't post a picture but as it seems to be normal for this date I figured there is no point. Has anyone else ever noticed this? And if so is there maybe more then 1 variety or is this just how they decided to do the 1977 cents?

Figured why make you look it up when your already here. I found a second one but the pointed 7 looks more blunt then this one but clearly still pointed vs the first 7 so here is a shot of the first one I noticed. Must be the normal design if first two I looked at had the same 7 difference

That's because the master matrix and punch did not have the last digit of the date punched in it... they would add the dates to the master punch annually. Who knows when the first 7 was designed (1970 maybe) versus what was used in 1977.

Here is an example of a master punch from the 1980s.

@SPP-Ottawa, is there a book or site on different fonts used throughout different years?
