Dearborn I appreciate all your suggestions and the pic of your beautiful dogs (and well fed!).

Sorry the OP got off original subject, will watch that in future.....r

Thank you all :)

Hey Cons. I am 100% in agreement with Dearborn! If you want to go off the topic, and it is your own thread and your own post, then by all means you have the right to do so! I actually enjoyed all of the dog info as I have a beautiful German Shepherd myself. I love dogs! There is NO need to apologize to anyone who doesn't understand this and please elaborate all you want to on your own post! I also wish you the best of luck with your beautiful canine!!!!

No need to apologize. This is your topic and you should be able to lead it in any direction you want. In fact If I'm not mistaken the original intent was to save money and get the things you need. Well getting on the topic of your dog, it seems to me to be right on the same objective - getting things you need at a reasonable price or method. You asked advice about your dog, you got it - from a few of us here.

By the way, when we reference the letters "OP", that means you in this case. as you are the Original Poster - OP (get it?)

Hi All,

I got the coin microscope from EJ Scott of EScott Coins this week!

So nice of EJ to send this to me free of charge. I have been working alot but finally got time to set up and experiment with the microscope.

I am trying to get the lighting aspects under control which seems to be my greatest handicap. My first post using this device will be a LMC cracked skull. Cannot get the close, close ups to focus however, the full coin pics seem to show alot of the detail.

I am filtering my light, using only 1 light source and tried angling on a ramp vs flat. Any further suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

To get closer to the coin, undo that bottom nut and spin the scope backwards 180 degrees.

Put the scope stand on a book and the coin on a slightly higher book such that you can drop the scope all the way down onto the coin.

Using the backwards stand technique you can also put the scope on a much higher level and get full shots of larger coins.

Cons,

Thank you for the shout out and kind words. You're a class act.

The little scope is certainly limited in its capabilities bit when I first started it taught me a lot. Once you get 'er dialed in she'll make some decent images too!

There's a pretty informative video on YouTube from a gentleman that did a review on the scope some time back. It may be helpful for you. The URL is

Most of all I hope the scope brings you enjoyment!

Regards,

E. J.
