Looking for information on this. I have a video also but not sure how to post that yet. Someone from another group said to put acetone on it for a min and then see what happens. I did this and nothing happened. Is it missing a layer? I am new to the coin community and any help if appreciated.

. Weight? Looks like staining or toning. The clad layer looks to be there under the coloring.

IF it's the quarter's colouring you're asking about, then yes I agree, your quarter has environmental staining/toning/discolouration and is not missing any layers (as seen in your reed out photo).

It is .18 ounces so 5.1 grams. If it is not missing anything what would cause this coloring? What would it need to be put in for only one side to get this coloration? Thank you so much for your responces. I am learning and I appreciate all your input.

It could have been sitting in the bottom of a car's cup holder and have had coffee spilled on it, who knows? Damage is damage, and this was done post mint.

There might be some kind of coating on it, as you can see the surface around the edge of the coin is the original color. One minute might not be long enough in acetone. Soak it for a couple hours, it won't hurt it. If it doesn't come off, then it's environmental.

Can you post an after soak photo? If you feel you must send it in to be attributed, send it to ANACS, they charge the least.

my opinion, windowsill toning. dust build up on one side over time and the sun cooking it in every day, it's wearing off around the rim
also acetone won't take it off of there though.
