Lazy post since I don't have a singular photo handy, but the portrait looks like the pagoda coins (and fractions) of the Vijayanagar kingdom, ca 1500s. Could be maybe a 1/4 pagoda cut into fanam-sized pieces. Larger coin in pic is a 1/2 pagoda next to a 3mm 1/4 fanam.

Just an educated guess - the only fanams I'm aware of what have a portrait are those of Krishnaraja Wodeyar III, but the style isn't right for that issue
