I have been wondering about a few things for a little while so I might as well ask now. ill appreciate any answers you might have.

my first question is I recently found a 1972 and a 1974 silver or platinum plated Eisenhower dollars in circulation and was wondering if they are worth anything over face value? I doubt it but I'm not sure.

second is do you think that the Jefferson nickels were so used to will raise in price like the Buffalo nickels did since we are getting a new design?

and does anyone know where I can get info on this B.A.S.S. collectors coin that I have? it appears to be brass but the only metal I'm good with is silver. is it worth anything? is it actually considered a coin or a medal? any information on it whatsoever no matter how little would be greatly appreciated. or a site that has info would be great to. ive looked alot and cant find nothing. so please help. if you click the picture it opens a new window with a bigger image. that is if it works on this forum correctly. its still in the original package it came in never opened and it is untouched with only one little nick in it.

My amateur opinion is eventually the old jefferson will be worth something like the buffs, but will take quite a few years. I just pull out the older mintmark nickels, pre-65, put em in a jar, and hang on for a while.

The silver IKE's are definately worth more than face value. Very odd to find those in circulation.
I do not know the exact numbers, but I would be guessing there is about $3.00 worth of silver in them. They are 40% silver I believe. Someone correct me if I am wrong.

i dont think I said enough detail on them. sorry bout that. but what I meant is they were plated after they left the mint. they are both denver mint dollars. I know for a fact they are plated because whoever plated them didnt get a very small area on the top of the reverse of the 1972. there is no copper line around the rim and it looks extra shiny I know its not cleaned and it dont look like a normal 90% or 40% silver coin the color is different than usual. again I apologize for not properly describing it.

Hi Demonboy

If your sure that the Ike's are plated they are not worth any premium, the amount of material used to plate a coin is so small that it does not add value,,

The bass medal is a novelty and numismaticaly carries no premium.

The Jefferson nickles already have premiums for some years and mints especially in the higher grades,, Keepers to me in this series are XF and Up .

No problem about the lack of detail.

You can still find a lot of older Jeffersons around. I have found a 39D in my change... kinda neat.
I have gone to the bank for $100 boxes, sort through them for the oder ones, and return the rest.
They really do not take all that long to sort. And it also helps my bank does not want coins pre-rolled since the count them theirselves anyways.
