Cdncoins Pillar of the Community Canada 999 Posts	Posted 10/26/2021 09:03 am I recently made my first purchase from the US Mint. They use UPS to ship to Canada. I had to pay the HST before receiving my items. These items are 99.9% silver, so therefore should not be subject to Canadian tax - correct? Is there a way to recoup the HST I paid? 47P7 Pillar of the Community Canada 1505 Posts	Posted 10/26/2021 09:41 am there is an address in your customs paperwork you can write to and ask for a refund. should have never been charged when the shipment is an export. they will blame it on computers... however, If I remember right, the purity must be better than 00.9. In BC many .999 items are PST taxable and GST 0.00 rated . What did you purchase? Never ever use FedEx , UPS , etc when you can help it . Insist on USPS much less complicated ! I've had positive experiences with USPS when I have bought items from US sellers in the past, but I don't think I have a choice with the US Mint using UPS.
